Former Gamecock Jared Cook has signed his first NFL contract, a multiyear deal with the Tennessee Titans, the team announced Tuesday.
The Titans selected Cook in the third round (89th overall) of the 2009 NFL Draft. In three years at USC, the Suwanee, Ga., native played in 36 games with 15 starts and hauled in 73 passes for 1,107 yards (15.2 avg.) and seven touchdowns.
Cook, in his final season at USC, was recognized by Southeastern Conference coaches with first-team All-SEC honors, while the Associated Press made him a second-team All-SEC selection.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed by the Titans, but The (Nashville) Tennessean reported that it was a four-year deal with a signing bonus around $700,000. The contract also includes rookie minimums of $310,000 in 2009, $395,000 (in 2010), $480,000 (in 2011), and $565,000 (in 2012), according to The Tennessean.
The Gamecocks had seven players picked in this year's draft, the second-most in program history and the most since the draft was shortened to seven rounds in 1994.
Cook was the highest USC player drafted. Kenny McKinley (Broncos, fifth round) remains the only unsigned USC draftee.
Including Cook, Jasper Brinkley (Vikings), Jamon Meredith (Packers), Ryan Succop (Chiefs), Captain Munnerlyn (Panthers) and Stoney Woodson (Giants) have all signed contracts with their respective teams.
