KEY MOMENT: N.C. State takes possession deep in its territory when QB Daniel Evans can’t handle a low snap. Eric Norwood recovers at the 12 to set up a 29-yard field goal by Ryan Succop.

THE MAN: Chris Culliver saves a potential N.C. State scoring opportunity. T.J. Graham breaks free in the secondary, but Culliver erases an 8- to 10-yard cushion to break up the pass.

KEY MOMENT: Mike Davis takes the toss sweep around the right end and dives over the pile on a fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard for the first touchdown.

THE MAN: On the second play of the half, Carlos Thomas intercepts a Daniel Evans pass and returns it 10 yards to the N.C. State 9. Thomas jumps in front of Owen Spencer and gets his fourth career pick to set up the touchdown.

KEY MOMENT: Stoney Woodson intercepts a pass in USC territory with slightly less than 10 minutes remaining, denying N.C. State’s best chance to cross midfield in the final 12 minutes.

THE MAN: Chris Smelley replaces a shaken up Tommy Beecher and engineers the first scoring drive. Smelley is 2-for-2 for 33 yards , including a 20-yard strike to an open Dion LeCorn for the score.
