USC has withdrawn its scholarship offer to committed defensive back Jonathan Davis (5-9 205) of Tucker, Ga., Davis confirmed Friday night.
"I really don't know why, they just called and broke it off," Davis said. "They called my coach today. I haven't talked to any USC coaches.
"I really don't know what to think about it. I was committed to those guys and that's all I was thinking about. They told my coach there were looking for more cornerbacks because they had more safeties come in and they were focusing on cornerbacks."
Davis said for now, he has no real options.
"I haven't talked to any other schools," he said.
Davis is considered one of the top prospects in Georgia after totaling 128 tackles and eight sacks. He also rushed for 1,236 yards. He recorded 223 tackles and 9 sacks as a junior.
USC now has 25 commitments for the 2009 class, including six who are enrolling mid-term.
