Two local groups get federal humanities aid

Two Columbia-based organizations have been awarded federal grants of $100,000 or more by the National Endowment for the Humanities.

The University of South Carolina Research Foundation will receive $232,096 to help it sponsor a three-week institute on the role of interactive technologies and games in the context of the humanities.

The S.C. Humanities Council will receive a $101,230 grant to support the Council’s 14th annual book festival next year and other events and activities.

The National Endowment for the Humanities announced the awards this morning.
