Calhoun County’s Eric Mack, regarded as one of the top high school offensive linemen in the country, committed Wednesday night to USC.

"I got tired of making people guess and wonder," Mack said. "Now I can just focus on my schoolwork next year and not worry about where I'm going to be playing on the next level."

Mack (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) picked the Gamecocks over a parade of offers that included Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida State. USC was the first school to offer Mack a scholarship. He is rated the No. 4 offensive guard in the Class of 2010 by Rivals.com.

“I think (offensive line) coach (Eric) Wolford will develop me the way I want to be developed," Mack saidMack has a 1-year-old daughter, Kaliyah, who lives with her mother in Orangeburg.

"(USC is) close to home, so I can see my baby when I want to,” Mack said.

Mack is projected to play offensive guard for the Gamecocks. He is the 14th commitment for USC's 2010 class and the seventh offensive lineman.
