Calhoun County’s Eric Mack, regarded as one of the top high school offensive linemen in the country, committed Wednesday night to USC.

Mack (6-foot-4, 310 pounds) picked the Gamecocks over a parade of offers that included Clemson, Oklahoma, Michigan, Alabama, Auburn, LSU, Tennessee, North Carolina and Florida State. USC was the first school to offer Mack a scholarship. He is rated the No. 4 offensive guard in the Class of 2010 by

“I think (offensive line) coach (Eric) Wolford will develop me the way I want to be developed," Mack saidMack has a 1-year-old daughter, Kaliyah, who lives with her mother in Orangeburg.

"(USC is) close to home, so I can see my baby when I want to,” Mack said.

Mack is projected to play offensive guard for the Gamecocks. He is the 14th commitment for USC's 2010 class and the seventh offensive lineman.
