The Richland County coroner’s office is seeking help in identifying a man killed in a two-car collision in Northeast Richland.
The incident occurred at 10:30 p.m. Wednesday on Windsor Lake Boulevard, S.C. Highway Patrol Cpl. Bob Beres said.
The driver was heading east when his car drove left of the center line and struck another car traveling west, Beres said. The driver’s car flipped over and he was ejected, Beres said, adding he was not wearing a seatbelt.
Coroner Gary Watts said the man was taken to Palmetto Health Richland, where he died early Thursday morning.
A positive identification has not been made on the driver, but paperwork in the vehicle identifies an individual as Javier Perez from Guatemala, with an address on Hunt Club Road, Watts said. But multiple trips to the location on Hunt Club Road have not provided positive identification of the driver, Watts added.
The driver and passenger in the other car were taken to an area hospital. Their conditions were not known Friday.
Anyone with information about Perez is asked to call the coroner’s office at (803) 576-1799.
