FINANCE – ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT (MATH, SPELLING, TYPING 45 WPM): Performs a variety of confidential administrative support activities in the Finance Department. Requires knowledge of administrative office practices, basic understanding of accounting policies and procedures, and ability to assist in department operations. Coordinates and maintains audit files, tracks/logs/requests documentation for approvals, audits employee expense reports, files department invoices and provides customer service for inquiries and questions. Prepares and processes monthly journal entries, performs account reconciliations, processes billing and tracking of monthly publication subscriptions, performs payroll audits and prints payroll checks. Associate’s degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred. Five to seven years of administrative/accounting work experience, advanced knowledge of general office practices, knowledge of business English, proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn new software required. Preferred candidate will possess excellent organization, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Requires strong customer service orientation and ability to establish good working relationships with internal and external customers, along with problem-solving and decisions-making skills. Must be able to work independently, multi-task, work effectively in deadline-driven environment and adapt to changing priorities. ADVERTISING – LOCAL RETAIL SALES MANAGER (MATH, SPELLING): Directs the achievement of revenue goals through administration of sales activities, pricing strategies, operational issues, and by managing and overseeing assigned Account Executives and exceeding customer expectations. Implements policies, procedures and practices to achieve company and department goals. Continuously acquires, applies and shares industry and competitive knowledge; monitors economic and industry trends. Bachelor's degree or equivalent AND four to 10 years of related experience and/or training; OR equivalent combination of education and experience required. Preferred candidate will possess a broad-based knowledge of advertising industry trends and competitive media including new media and marketing information, demonstrate professional interpersonal skills with internal and external customers, prepare reports accurately and within deadlines, and accurately forecast sales by analyzing current and year-over-year trends. PRODUCTION – COMPUTER-TO-PLATE IMAGING TECHNICIAN (Math): Performs a variety of prepress support activities in the Platemaking Department. Outputs press plates for all jobs, maintaining a smooth workflow by producing all jobs correctly according to press needs. Requires knowledge of standard computer peripherals and mechanical aptitude to perform general maintenance of plate lines. High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical college, network support or information technology experience preferred. One year graphic arts experience desired. Candidate must possess ability to perform mathematical calculations, use computer mouse, keyboard, digitizing table, and other input devices. Position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Physical abilities include bending, stooping, kneeling, occasional heavy pushing and lifting up to 65 pounds. Work schedule is Wednesday- Sunday, 7 p.m.-2:30 a.m. POSTING DATE: 04/03/2013
CIRCULATION – PART-TIME TRUCK DRIVERS: Loads, transports and unloads bulk quantities of newspapers to drop points. Requirements include a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), excellent driving record, mathematical aptitude, good communication skills and proven job stability. Must be able to lift bundles weighing up to 65 lbs. Applicants should furnish a current copy of their SC Department of Motor Vehicles 10-year driving record at time of application. Work schedule is Thursday and Friday, 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.; and Saturday, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. OR Thursday, Friday, Sunday, 11:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. and Saturday 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

ADVERTISING – ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Spelling, Math): Sells advertising schedules based on advertisers' marketing needs. Sells all products in The State Media Company's portfolio (print and online) to achieve revenue goals by: developing and servicing existing, new and inactive accounts in assigned territory; maintaining awareness of local competitive conditions; and improving market share. Requirements include two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing, preferably with a media company. College degree preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus. Work schedule is Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m.-5:30 p.m.
