ADVERTISING – AUTOMOTIVE ACCOUNT EXECUTIVE (Spelling, Math): Sells strategic marketing campaigns based on advertiser marketing needs to current and prospective automotive dealers in and around the metropolitan Columbia area. Responsible for achieving budget revenue goals by selling all products of The State Media Company’s portfolio. Generates advertising revenue by selling and servicing existing, new, and inactive accounts; is expected to achieve budget revenue goals by developing new/incremental business; maintain awareness of local competitive conditions; and improve market share.  The Account Executive must possess knowledge of the automotive industry and have the ability to manage accounts accurately while maintaining professional, amiable relationships with decision makers and their agents and agencies. Requires excellent customer relations and communication skills with the ability to use sales skills to present creative marketing solutions to advertisers.  Must demonstrate prospecting and solutions-based selling skills, including developing, prioritizing and maintaining updated prospect list, conducting needs analyses, presenting proposals, following up and closing. College degree preferred; advertising, marketing or business course work a plus. Prior responsible experience in sales or marketing preferably with a media company preferred. TRANSPORTATION – PART-TIME TRUCK DRIVER:  Loads, transports and unloads bulk quantities of newspapers to drop points.  Requirements include a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), excellent driving record, mathematical aptitude, good communication skills and proven job stability. Must be able to lift bundles weighing up to 65 lbs. Applicants should furnish a current copy of their SC Department of Motor Vehicles 10-year driving record at time of application. PRODUCTION – EXPERIENCED PRESS OPERATOR (Math): Seeking experienced offset press operator to operate and maintain press and related equipment to produce various printed products. Operates in all areas of pressroom, including handling plates, newsprint, folder and color console.  Five years of offset printing experience, including ink-mixing and process-color procedures, as well as excellent mathematical aptitude, mechanical skills and communication skills. Candidates must be able to lift/push 60 pounds and work effectively in deadline-driven environment. FINANCE – GENERAL ACCOUNTING MANAGER: Reporting to VP/Finance, this position is responsible for a variety of accounting functions related to revenue and expenses, requisitions, payment of invoices and general ledger entries, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures. Also oversees budgeting, inventorying and usage of production and distribution supplies. Serves as liaison with commercial printing, circulation and intercompany customers, including creating billing models, sending billing files and making intercompany entries. Prepares P&Ls for special projects, as well as account analysis. Assists with sales and use tax reporting. Plans, assigns and directs work of supervised employee (accounting clerk). Expected to assist in the smooth operation of the department on a daily basis, including monthly closing process of both revenue and expenses and preparation of annual operating and capital budgets. B.S. or advanced degree in accounting, business or finance required; CPA preferred. Requires five years of general accounting experience; at least two years of supervisory experience preferred. Position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Must demonstrate strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, ability to multi-task and consistently meet deadlines, and ability to work independently and contribute in a team environment. PRODUCTION – IMAGING TECHNICIAN (Math):  Performs a variety of prepress support activities in the Platemaking Department.  Outputs press plates for all jobs, maintaining a smooth workflow by producing all jobs correctly according to press needs. Requires knowledge of standard computer peripherals and mechanical aptitude to perform general maintenance of plate lines.  High school diploma or equivalent is required; technical college, network support or information technology experience preferred.  One year graphic arts experience desired. Candidate must be able to perform mathematical calculations, use computer mouse, keyboard, digitizing table, and other input devices.  Position requires excellent organizational, interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills. Requires excellent written and verbal communication skills and ability to interact professionally with internal and external customers.  Must demonstrate firm grasp of marketing concepts and strategies and ability to develop knowledge about marketing solutions offered by The State Media Company as well as rates, deadlines, and technical capabilities in order to service accounts accurately.  Must be able to work independently and in a team, multi-tasking while under pressure and tight deadlines.  Bachelor's degree required; advertising, marketing or business coursework a plus. Two to five years of responsible experience in sales or marketing preferred.  Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and other packaged programs), e-mail, internet and database applications required.  Minimum typing speed 40 WPM. NEWSROOM – AUDIENCE ENGAGEMENT EDITOR:Leads newsroom efforts to build local audience and engagement levels with and other web products.  Supervises online reporters and web producers.  Coaches and helps develop newsroom staff‘s effectiveness with social media, curation, crowdsourcing and other forms of digital engagement.  Oversees online content, manages branded social media accounts, develops online products.  Current knowledge of social media tools and techniques required. Must be proficient in publishing, uploading and modifying online content with previous newsroom writing, editing and management experience.  Bachelor’s degree and experience managing online product preferred. Candidates must have excellent sales, customer relations and communication skills and must be able to present creative marketing solutions, get advertisers to commit to campaigns, process paperwork, perform basic mathematical calculations, and follow ads from creation to publication to meet or exceed customer expectations. Must demonstrate ability to organize individual work activities, as well as to contribute in a team-based environment. Knowledge of competitive media and marketing research is a plus.
