TURKEY DAY 5K: 8:45 a.m. Thursday at the Colonial Life Arena, 801 Lincoln St. Preregistration is recommended, but on-site registration will begin at 8 a.m. Registrants may walk or run in the 5K and will receive an event T-shirt. Register at http://strictlyrunning.com. Registration for the 5K is $25 online, $35 on race day; registration for the 1-mile Family Fun Run is $10 online, $20 on race day. Both races are USA Track & Field Certified course and will be timed by Strictly Running. All proceeds stay locally at the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Midlands.
MAIN STREET ICE: Columbia’s outdoor ice skating rink opens 5-10 p.m. Thursday in Boyd Plaza, Main and Hampton streets. Opening day price is $8. The rink will be open 1-10 p.m. Nov. 28. Hours through Jan. 19 will be 4-9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays, 4-10 p.m. Fridays, 10 a.m.-10 p.m. Saturdays and 1-9 p.m. Sundays. Special operating hours Dec. 15-Jan. 2 will be noon-9 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays and noon-10 p.m. Fridays. Closed Christmas Day, open until midnight New Year’s Eve. Midlands’ largest drive-through light show features the Dazzling Dancing Forest, animated scenes, Wetland Wonderland Walking Trail, Winter Wonder Ride downhill tubing, Santa’s Claus’et Gift Shop and more. Holiday Lights will be open 6-10 p.m. every night until Dec. 31. Admission is $15 per car, $25 per 15-passenger van and $40 per bus.
