Athlete Quin Smith (6-1 210) of Lenoir, N.C., confirmed his commitment to USC.
"I'm 100 percent committed," he said. "I'm not even considering any other schools."
Smith has scheduled his official visit for Jan. 17. He took two unofficials during the season taking in the Georgia and Arkansas games.
"It's crazy down there. I can't wait to be a part of it," he said.
Smith was originally being recruited to play linebacker for the Gamecocks but says that keeps changing.
"They told me linebacker and then spur. Coach (Ray) Rychleski came to watch me play and I had a big game on offense. He told me they were going to give me a shot over on the offensive side of the ball," he said.
Smith went on to say he has no preference and just wants to help the team.
"South Carolina doesn't have a pro team, so the Gamecocks are their pro team. It just seems like it would be special to be a part of something like that," he said, commenting about his excitement.
Smith had more than 1,500 yards rushing and 29 touchdowns on offense and 200 tackles and 8 interceptions on defense. He is currently playing for the Tar Heels in the Shrine Bowl.
