Seven-foot center Beas Hamga will continue his college basketball career at Valparaiso University in Indiana, his guardian said Saturday afternoon.
Hamga, who is transferring from UNLV, also considered USC and Rutgers, among others.
"He knew a couple of players on their team and bonded with some of the teammates there," Mark Adams said. "After the UNLV think, he's wary of some things and their need was greater than some teams. It was a little bit of everything, but it's more of a sure thing he can go in there and play."
Hamga visited USC Dec. 30 and took in the Clemson game.
Hamga is a native of Cameroon who played high school basketball in Illinois. He signed with UNLV over Kentucky, Indiana, Iowa and New Mexico. After redshirting his first season at UNLV, he decided to leave after playing in just five games this season.
