It’s official: South Carolina has added a Jeep to its coaching fleet.
USC announced Tuesday it has hired former Georgia Tech and Memphis assistant Jeep Hunter as tight ends coach and assistant special teams coordinator. Hunter, 41, replaces Ray Rychleski, who was hired last week by new Indianapolis Colts coach Jim Caldwell in a move the Colts did not want to announce until after the Super Bowl.
Hunter, a North Carolina native who was on Tommy West’s staff at Clemson, will oversee the Gamecocks’ special teams with Shane Beamer.
“Jeep has an outstanding record as an assistant coach and a reputation as a very good recruiter,” USC coach Steve Spurrier said in a release.
