USC and Clemson will hold spring games Saturday and will do so without the state's top prospect in attendance at either game. RB Marcus Lattimore (6-0 210) of Byrnes had planned to go to one of the games, most likely USC, but his mother is getting married Saturday, so he will be occupied with that.
Lattimore had a busy week last week capped by a three day visit to Florida State which included the spring game Saturday. "I had a good time just getting a better feel for the coaches," Lattimore said. "Me and coach (Dexter) Carter (RB coach) have a real good relationship now. We bonded the whole time. I sat in on their meetings. The running backs just like him. And he never changes as a person. I like the offense, too, Coach (Jimbo) Fisher is a good offensive mind. He knows his stuff. My last night there I talked with coach (Bobby) Bowden for about 45 minutes."
Wednesday afternoon Lattimore and his mother visited Georgia where he looked into the academics, met with the coaches and watched practice. "My mother likes coach (Mark) Richt," he said. "He's a Christian man. I could tell there was a bonding. I had a good time the whole day."
And on Monday Lattimore was at Clemson where he watched the Tigers work out. "I really like their running game," he said. "We met with coach (Billy) Napier. My mom met him for the first time and he made a good impression. Then we went to Mac's and that was good. I think I had a double-bacon cheeseburger."
Never miss a local story.
Lattimore added recent offers to his lengthy list from Penn State, Wisconsin and Purdue. He has already made up his mind to take an official visit to Michigan and he said he "most likely" will take on to Penn State. Lattimore said he hopes to have a top five list in order by early summer.
His next trip will be to LSU April 18th for their spring game.
