ATH Mario Jones (5-8 180), a Myrtle Beach native who played in the 2007 North-South All Star Game, was redshirted last season at Coffeyville JC, KS and is looking forward to being a major contributor this season with the Ravens. He was scouted this spring by several schools, including USC, and apparently impressed recruiter Steve Spurrier Jr.
"He said I was an explosive player and can make great plays with the ball," Jones said. "He said that I'm what he's looking for. He wants me to play for him but he has to get his receiver scholarships right before he can make me an offer."
Jones said USC is showing him the most interest right now. He's also been getting interest from TCU and Marshall.
Jones said he plans to visit USC soon, maybe as early as next week. Jones said he plays slot receiver and running back. He is on track to graduate in December and will have three years to play at the major college level.
