As was mentioned here Saturday, it appears ex-USC wideout Joe Hills is headed to South Florida.
He told the Sarasota (Fla.) Herald-Tribune he hoped to play for the Big East school near his hometown of Palmetto, although nothing is finalized, yet.
Hills told the newspaper he didn’t believe Steve Spurrier’s “excuse” for moving him to safety was legitimate.
“Coach Spurrier told me it was best that I play defensive back. I told him I didn’t think it was good a move and wanted to talk with my family,” Hills said in the article. “My family didn’t like it and I decided on Thursday night to leave. Coach Spurrier didn’t tell me why he was doing this. He gave me an excuse, but it wasn’t one that I felt was legitimate.”
Obviously, Hills and the coaching staff were not on the same page. But Spurrier has said he’ll release Hills to any school he wants to go, allowing everyone to go their separate ways.
