Two sport standout Bruce Ellington (5-9 185) of Berkeley has been busy meeting obligations in both of his sports. A cornerback and running back for the Stags football team, Ellington scored his team's only touchdown in their Sertoma Classic appearance last week. The previous weekend, Ellington, considered to be among the top point guard prospects in the country, attended the Chris Paul Elite Guard Camp in Winston-Salem, NC and performed well according to his AAU coach Antoine Saunders.
Two more schools have recently shown serious interest in Ellington for basketball...Tennessee and Georgia Tech. Saunders said if Ellington returns the call to Tennessee coach Bruce Pearl, he'll get an offer.
Ellington has basketball offers from USC, Clemson, Auburn, Southern Cal, Miami, College of Charleston, Georgia Southern and Marquette. USC and Clemson will have in home visits with him in September.
He has football offers from USC, Clemson, Georgia Tech, Kentucky and Maryland.
Never miss a local story.
Saunders says USC and Clemson are running ahead of the rest for Ellington who probably will sign for basketball.
