USC defensive end Clifton Geathers requested a jury trial to resolve charges stemming from an altercation at a Vista club Aug. 23.
A municipal court clerk told the judge of the request. Geathers was not present in the courtroom.
Geathers was arrested outside Club Ice on charges of disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and public drunkeness. He had been attending a birthday party for USC defensive back Chris Culliver. The club's manager told police some of the party guests became unruly around 2:30 a.m. and he accused Geathers of fighting with a bouncer. Police say Geathers then struggled with police officers who tried to detain.
Geathers sustained a cracked right orbital bone in the incident. He was suspended from Thursday's game with N.C. State, but should be eligible to play next week at Georgia.
