USC has made a conditional offer to 6-8 forward Malcolm Rhett of Richland Northeast, the son of former Gamecock star Joe Rhett. The Gamecocks would like Rhett to reclassify and go to a prep school next year putting him in the class of 2011.
Tennessee State's new coach, former USC assistant John Cooper, has offered Rhett for this year's class, and Rhett will make an official visit there this weekend. He also is scheduled to visit Murray State September 19th.
The Gamecocks made the offer to Rhett before they accepted 6-6 Malik Cooke as a transfer walk-on from Nevada. Cooke will go on scholarship for the 2010 season, so it remains to be seen how that will affect the offer USC has made to Rhett.
