GAINESVILLE, Fla. - Florida coach Urban Meyer says quarterback Tim Tebow is improving after sustaining a concussion.
Meyer said Wednesday that Tebow "looked terrific" when he saw him late Tuesday night.
"That's the best I've seen him," Meyer said.
Meyer also saw Tebow earlier Tuesday, when the coach went through balance and memory tests with his star player, and said he looked OK.
Tebow spent Saturday night in a Kentucky hospital after sustaining a concussion during a third-quarter sack against the Wildcats. Tebow did not practice Monday or Tuesday.
University begins probe into Locksley fight. University of New Mexico administrators have opened an investigation into a fight where coach Mike Locksley struck an assistant, and the first-year coach could face suspension or firing. Receivers coach J.B. Gerald told police Locksley struck him during a staff meeting, splitting his lip.
Big East vs. Big 12 in Yankee Stadium bowl. A Big East team will face a team from the Big 12 at Yankee Stadium in a new bowl game after the 2010 season. The conferences and the New York Yankees have agreed to a four-year deal to play the first bowl in the Bronx since 1962.
Bowden: TB Thomas likely to start. Jermaine Thomas is running with the first team at Florida State. Coach Bobby Bowden said the sophomore tailback likely will start when the Seminoles visit Boston College on Saturday.
Saban: Hightower's surgery completed. Alabama star linebacker Dont'a Hightower has undergone surgery to repair a torn knee ligament. Coach Nick Saban said the operation was successful and the surgeon believes Hightower will make a full recovery.
