House lawmakers got their first chance Tuesday to prefile bills for the legislative session that begins in January. Here is a sampling:
- Rep. Bakari Sellers, D-Bamberg, wants to require the state Department of Education to release high-school graduation rates broken down by students' race.
- Rep. Grady Brown, D-Lee, says the state should no longer recognize common-law marriage after 2010.
- Rep. Jim Harrison, R-Richland, wants sexually violent predators to be released on parole 180 days after the parole order is issued, double the current 90 days.
