DE Tavaris Barnes (6-5 250) of Jacksonville, FL made an unofficial visit to USC for the Florida game, and he will be back in the Palmetto State at least two more times as he plans to set official visits with the Gamecocks and Clemson.
"I liked it," Barnes said of his visit to USC. "It was so much better than what I expected. I expected Florida to whip them boys. They have some die hard fans. I didn't know the stadium could get that loud."
Barnes said he met with Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier in his office before the game. "He doesn't really press you like a lot of other schools do," Barnes said. "I'm checking them out."
Barnes has been committed to Florida State, but calls his commitment level right now "medium." Clemson also has remain in touch and he talked with recruiter Jeff Scott last week. Along with USC and Clemson, Barnes said he will set official visits with Florida State, North Carolina and Georgia. He said there is no order to the schools behind Florida State. He might attend the Maryland at Florida State game this weekend.
