Wide receiver Nick Jones (5-10 165) of Byrnes committed to USC Sunday, according to Byrnes athletic director Bobby Bentley.
The speedy wideout had offers from USC, Auburn, Michigan, Northern Illinois, and Georgia Southern.
"We're proud of Nick and his many offers," Bentley said. "He has worked hard for many years in our program and helped us when a lot of games. He is the ultimate playmaker."
Jones had 64 catches for 814 yards and 6 touchdowns as a junior. He missed the first part of this season with a knee injury, so his numbers aren't quite as good. Jones is a 4.3 sprinter who should help the Gamecocks fill their need for a fast player in the slot.
And his decision could help the Gamecocks in their pursuit of his teammate, running back Marcus Lattimore.
"They are good friends," Bentley said. "They have played together since little league."
Lattimore is down to USC, Auburn, Oregon, North Carolina, Georgia and Penn State. He has taken official visits to Auburn and Penn State and will take officials to Oregon, North Carolina and Georgia in January. He's taken several unofficial visits to USC and doesn't plan to take an official with the Gamecocks.
According to a source, Lattimore now plans to announce his college choice at his church shortly before National Signing Day. He's not publicly indicating a favorite.
