ATH Todd Neal (6-2 195) of Mobile, AL had planned to take an official visit to USC this coming weekend, and he planned to commit to the Gamecocks while there. But those plans changed after a phone call from Gamecock head coach Steve Spurrier Sunday.
Neal said Spurrier called to tell him he was not going to be able to accept a commitment from him at this time. "He said if I committed it would hurt them with the #1 player in the state (at his position)," Neal said. "He said they were not recruiting any other DBs before he finds out what that kid (John Fulton) is going to do." Fulton is favoring the Gamecocks over Alabama and Florida but doesn't plan to make a final decision until mid-December.
Neal was dissapointed in the turn of events, especially since he doesn't have any other firm offers to turn to at this time. He has drawn interest from Southern Miss, Troy and Arkansas State.
