DL Derrick Mitchell (6-5 285) of Jacksonville committed to FSU shortly after their junior day. "Everything felt right," said Mitchell. "Coach Odell Hagans and my dad were good friend back in college. Coach Hagans does a great job with the defensive line and it seemed like the right fit."
Mitchell's father, Derrick, played basektball at FSU while Hagans was a player on the football team and the two were friends. He says he was comfortable on campus. "The people are really cool," he said. "I liked the campus, too. Everything was good."
Mitchell says his commitment is pretty strong but he will continue to camp and take official visits. "I'll probably camp at Bama and Clemson this summer," he said. "I'll definitely go to South Carolina because my team camps there every year." He says both Clemson and USC will likely get officials. "I'll take all five officials probably," mentioned Mitchell. "That's what they're there for. Both Clemson and South Carolina were on me early so I'll visit them most likely."
Mitchell has offers from USC, Clemson, FSU, Alabama, North Carolina, Florida International. Illinois, and Georgia Tech.
