USC will stage the first of its summer camps this weekend and early next week with dozens of prospects for all positions set to be in attendance.
A pair of quarterbacks the Gamecocks plan to check out is senior Garrett Mohr (6-3 200) of Lincolnton, Ga., and junior Zeke Pike (6-5 228) of Edgewood, Ky.
Mohr has not been heavily recruited to this point. Last season he passed for 600 yards and 6 touchdowns. He's also a punter and averaged 36 yards per punt.
Pike, on the other hand, has eight offers at this point including Kentucky and Purdue. Pike passed for 1634 yards and 17 touchdowns last season.
One of the camps the Gamecocks will stage this weekend is for lineman and among those prospects planning to attend are JD Jones (6-2 262) of Cartersville, Ga., and junior Harrison Davis (6-3 200) of Marietta, Ga. Jones has offers from Middle Tennessee and Western Carolina at this point. He's also drawn interest from Clemson, Auburn, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech and Virginia.
A few of USC's targets from the Northeast also plan to attend camps over the weekend. Those would include DL Deon Barnes (6-4 230) of Philadelphia, WR Damiere Byrd of Sicklerville, NJ and DB Maika Polamalu (5-11 191) of Pottsgrove, PA. USC has offered Barnes and Byrd and will consider doing so with Polamalu after evaluating him this weekend.
