One day after reaching its first College World Series in six years, South Carolina got more good news.
Senior right-hander Blake Cooper, the team’s ace with a 12-1 record and 2.81 ERA, has no fracture in his pitching hand after he was hit by a foul ball in Saturday’s game against Coastal Carolina.
Cooper met Monday with USC medical director Jeffrey Guy and had his pitching hand examined and X-rayed. Cooper is expected to pitch USC’s opening game in Omaha.
