A teen has been arrested after leading Columbia Police on a car chase.
The chase started just before 3 p.m. near T.S. Martin Park near Two Notch Road when a bystander told an officer that a car was being stolen, Columbia Police spokeswoman Jennifer Timmons said.
The officer stopped the suspect vehicle and the driver took off. Police followed the car downtown before finally stopping in the 7800 block of Wilson Road, but not before the vehicle struck another car at Barnwell and Blanding streets. The car’s driver, Tyron Trimayne Keller, 18, was arrested without incident, and is charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, failure to stop for blue lights and unlawful passing. A passenger was in the car during the chase, but was not charged with any crimes.
The state Highway Patrol is investigating the downtown collision, Timmons said.
