The rain that passed through South Carolina late Tuesday and early Wednesday absolutely soaked some coastal regions.
One unofficial gauge on St. Helena Island registered 5.99 inches. Others in the Community Collaborative Rain, Hail and Snow Network reported totals of 3.9 inches in Bluffton, 3.89 inches in Hilton Head and 3.29 inches on Daufuskie Island. The amounts dropped to between 1.5 and 2.5 in a band from Charleston to just south of Columbia and less than an inch in the central Midlands. Much of the Upstate got less than half an inch.
While a few more showers from this system could hit the state, the most notable impact Wednesday afternoon and evening could be winds in the 30 mph range.
