The Gamecocks squared off against unbeaten and ninth-ranked Indiana in the Carolina Coliseum and came away with a big 88-85 come-from-behind victory over the storied Hoosiers.
Carolina trailed Indiana 40-30 at halftime, and by 16 early in the second half. Coach McGuire then decided to move Kevin Joyce from forward to guard in the second half, and it paid off big. Joyce led the huge comeback with a legendary 26-point second half.
USC finally took the lead at the five-minute mark, and sealed it with two Brian Winters free throws with 0:19 left.
It was indeed a memorable night for Joyce, who scored 41 points and grabbed 18 rebounds.
