The Gamecocks picked up a miraculous, come-from-behind victory in Gainesville vs. the Florida Gators by a score of 80-79.
Trailing by 16 with only five minutes left, it looked like the winning streak would come to an end at four. However, Carolina charged back with an 18-0 run, and held on through the very dramatic final seconds.
The game winning shot came from BJ McKie, as he drove to the rim and rolled home an acrobatic shot with only 4.6 seconds remaining. Then, it was maybe the longest four seconds in basketball history, as each team called two timeouts in attempting to get the upper hand.
After the pauses, Florida’s Greg Williams tossed up a ten-footer that bounced harmlessly off the rim, preserving one of the great comebacks in USC history. Carolina was 4-0 in SEC play for the first time.
