The Gamecocks won their sixth-consecutive game in the series against Clemson. DeAngelo Mack’s ninth-inning two-run single rallied Carolina for a come-from-behind 7-6 victory. Mack had also homered in the first inning.
It looked as if Clemson would finally break through against USC, thanks to two costly fielding errors. Ironically, the Gamecocks entered the contest leading the SEC in fielding percentage. The second error had given the Tigers a 6-5 lead in the seventh inning.
Mack’s walk-off heroics occurred with one out after Clemson’s Casey Harmon had loaded the bases, allowing a single and two walks.
