19th-ranked USC took advantage of five Clemson miscues, the bat of 1B Jeff Parnell, and the pitching of Jared Baker to defeat the 12th-ranked Tigers 12-4 at Sarge Frye Field.
Carolina scored twice on wild pitches, once on a hit batsman, once on an argument, and once on an unearned run in the wild affair. Parnell was a single shy of hitting for the cycle, and drove in four runs.
Starting pitcher Jared Baker threw a complete game for Carolina, allowing only six hits, while striking out eleven Tigers.
June Raines’ Gamecocks ran their record to 23-5 on the season with their sixth straight victory.
