The No. 1 ranked South Carolina Gamecocks won their 17th-straight SEC contest with an 8-2 victory over Arkansas at Baum Stadium. It was also the 21st- straight win overall for Carolina.
The 17 consecutive conference wins tied the record set by Tennessee during the 1994 season. Amazingly, it was the second 21-game winning streak of the season for the loaded 2000 Gamecocks’ baseball squad. The win improved the USC record to a mind-boggling 47-4 on the season.
Pitcher Kip Bouknight ran his record to an astounding 14-0 with a complete game victory, his fourth CG of the season. Kip allowed two runs on eight hits, and struck out five.
Second-baseman Bryon Jeffcoat collected three hits, while first-baseman Tripp Kelly collected two hits and two runs batted in.
