Trey Dyson’s first career grand-slam homer in the fifth inning opened the flood gates for top-ranked Carolina in a 14-3 clubbing of Tennessee.
Dyson, who was 1-for-14 against the Vols in the previous year, blasted the majestic shot over the Pennington sign in right-center on a 1-0 pitch from Wyatt Allen, giving USC a 5-2 lead. It also gave Dyson a total of 11 RBIs in the last 2 games. It was the Gamecocks' 17th come-from-behind victory of the season, 14th in the SEC.
The crowd of 4,932 on hand at Sarge Frye Field pushed the season attendance total to 91,024, the most ever in a season. The previous mark of 87,350 had stood since 1982.
