No. 12 Carolina wins its first and only SEC Baseball Tournament Championship following a hard-fought 3-2 victory over Vanderbilt in the championship game.
USC went unbeaten at 4-0 during the tournament.
Pitcher Zac McCamie made his first SEC start of the season, and was very impressive. He allowed only two runs in his 7 1/3 innings of work. It was very shaky early for McCamie, who allowed hits to the first five Vandy hitters of the game. However, he survived and allowed only two runs to score. Zac was tough the rest of the way, picking up the win with help from Chad Blackwell who earned his 15th save on the year.
Carolina headed on to the NCAA Tournament on a high note, winning 13 of its last 15 games. Accolades went to infielders Kevin Melillo and Steven Tolleson as well, being named as Co-MVPs of the tournament.
