Gamecock great Justin Smoak showed why he is USC’s all-time home run leader.
Smoak, a rookie with the Mariners, hit a monstrous shot off of Angels All-Star pitcher Jared Weaver. He blasted a 1-2 pitch into the right-centerfield bleachers for a 2-run homer.
The seventh inning shot brought Seattle back to within a run of Anaheim at 3-2. Justin finished 2 for 3 in the game, only his fourth with Seattle after being dealt from Texas in a huge deal that sent ace pitcher Cliff Lee to the Rangers.
Smoak connected for 62 homers in his three years at Carolina (2006-08). That is 14 more than the second-most hit by Hank Small (48) from 1972-75.
