Gamecock pitcher Aaron Rawl was born today in Lexington.
Rawl was a four-year starter for Carolina who had the distinction of pitching in three different College World Series (’02, ’03, ’04). He was the starting pitcher in the 2002 CWS Championship Game vs. Texas after beating Georgia Tech in an elimination game three days earlier.
Aaron had an outstanding career at USC (2002 – 2005). His 35 wins rank third on Carolina’s all-time list. He was named an All-American in 2004 by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers after posting a 13-4 record.
Aaron Rawl was outstanding in the classroom as well. He was named to the SEC’s Academic Honor Roll in 2004 and 2005.
