The USC baseball program got some great news, as third baseman Christian Walker (6-0, 190) of Limerick, Pa., announced his commitment to play ball in Columbia.
The rest is history, as Walker made an immediate impact upon his arrival for the Gamecocks, playing first base at USC. In 2010, Christian was named a freshman All-American by Baseball America, and was named to the College World Series All-Tournament Team in Omaha. He went 4-for-9 vs. UCLA in the CWS Championship Series, as Carolina won its first National Championship.
As a sophomore in 2011, it was much of the same as Walker led the Gamecocks in homers and RBIs. Walker will long be remembered for his gutsy performance in Omaha for Carolina when he played with a broken hand/wrist and didn’t miss a beat. Christian and the Gamecocks made it back-to-back national championships.
