It was the first big scrimmage of the fall for the Gamecocks, and a future NFL quarterback was impressive under the lights at Williams-Brice.
Redshirt freshman QB Anthony Wright completed 9 of his 10 pass attempts, for 104 yards and 2 TDs. However, Wright would have to wait another year before becoming the man under center. Record-setting QB Steve Taneyhill was back for his senior season in 1995.
There was plenty of star power on the offensive side of the ball for this squad. Besides Taneyhill, future NFLers Duce Staley and Stanley Pritchett comprised the backfield, Marcus Robinson and Zola Davis were wideouts, and freshman Jamar Nesbit was a starting tackle.
