It’s good old-fashioned food on the menu, and good old-fashioned bluegrass music on the stage today at Lone Star Barbecue & Mercantile in Santee.
The 13th Annual Bluegrass & Country Music Hoe Down wraps up three days of festivities Sunday with a full schedule of performers. The Claude Lucas Bluegrass Band and Norman LeBlanc will both perform inside the restaurant, at 11:45 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., respectively.
After that, the festivities move outside under the trees. The Claude Lucas Bluegrass Band will perform again at 1 p.m., and The Jordan Igoe Band takes the stage at 2:15 p.m.
The concerts are all family-friendly, free and open to the public. Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the outdoor concerts.
The Lone Star Restaurant and Gift Shop will be open during the performances. Lone Star is housed in four old frame buildings that were previously used as rural stores and farm commissaries in the late 1800s and early 1900s. The restaurant is an “all-you-can-eat” country buffet. The address is 2212 State Park Road in Santee.
Want to walk off a little of that food after the music ends? Head north on State Park Road and try out one of the hiking trails at Santee State Park on the way home.
