Move over “Myrtle Manor” – America’s youngest sweetheart is coming to town.
Alana Thompson - better known as Honey Boo Boo – and her family will be staying in Myrtle Beach from Saturday through Tuesday as part of a beach tour that has included spots in Florida and Georgia, according to Alana’s Facebook page.
The stars of TLC’s reality show “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” will take time out to meet and greet their fans Sunday at the Marina Inn at Grande Dunes. All six stars are expected to attend – Alana, mom June, dad Sugar Bear and sisters 12-year-old Lauryn “Pumpkin,” 15-year-old Jessica “Chubbs” and 17-year-old Anna “Chickadee.
The clan will be staying at the Marriott but contacted the Marina Inn Monday to book space for the event, said Andrea Childers, Marina Inn conference and catering services manager. The meet and greet will be held in the Triton Room, beginning at noon and ending promptly at 4 p.m. to make way for a wedding, she said.
“We r also doing a fundraiser for our Christmas in July to buy Christmas for kids in our community,” Alana said on her Facebook page, which is run by her mother and friend Bobbie.
Fans may bring an unwrapped toy or donation, but it is not required to attend, Childers said. The family will have their bodyguard, and she said she expects the event will be controlled, with about 10 people being allowed in the room at a time.
Alana first came to the attention of TV viewers as a contestant on TLC’s “Toddlers & Tiaras” reality show, and the network then gave the young beauty queen her own show, which follows her and her family, who live in rural McIntyre, Ga. Their new season on TLC begins July 17 at 9 p.m.
