With purr-fect timing to start your weekend, Catitude Cat Cafe will celebrate its grand opening beginning at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 10, at 118 State Street in West Columbia.
“We’ve been working around the clock for the last few months to get to this point and we could not be happier,” said owner Jaime Andres Ortega.
The cats and kittens are on loan from PETSinc and will be upstairs above the cafe for folks to come by and play with while the felines await a fur-ever home. There is a fee for the cat room, $15/person, that includes coffee or soda and helps cover the cost of cat supplies. There is also a limit of 23 people in the cat room at a time, so you may want to call ahead during the first couple of weeks to make a reservation.
Downstairs, the cafe will serve packaged pastries and a selection of coffees, soft drinks and juices. Andres Ortega has applied for a beer and wine license.
Catitude is also holding a fundraiser where cat lovers can celebrate the grand opening a day early by purchasing sponsorship packages, special memberships, Professional Kitty Cuddler packages, T-shirts, calendars and more on the website, www.catitudecatcafe.com/blog.
