Black Expo’s Taste of Black Columbia; SC Book Festival cookbook stars; and Farm to Table event

Black Expo presents Taste of Black Columbia

Celebrate local chefs, caterers and restaurants during the third annual Taste of Black Columbia at Carolina Coliseum during Black Expo weekend. The party starts 6:30 p.m. Friday with tastings from locals and a cooking demonstration by White House chef Daniel Thomas and then continues with live entertainment 9-11 p.m.

Reserved tickets, $65 and $55, are available at Koger Center or VIP tickets are $150 per person (includes heavy hors douvres and drinks); $1,500 (table for 10); $500 (two VIP tickets and name in program booklet) and $250 (two Reserved tickets and name in program booklet). Email for VIP tickets.

For the first time, prizes will be awarded for the Best Savory, Best Dessert and Best Presentation dishes and sponsors will provide The Crown Royal and CIROC Lounge.

Columbia’s Cooking! Healthy Culinary Camp for Kids

Columbia’s Cooking! focuses on making healthy living taste great through hands-on and demonstration classes for adults and children. It is located on the USC campus in the Discover I Building and is affiliated with the USC Research Foundation and the Arnold School of Public Health.

This summer Columbia Cooks! has a series of camps and classes for children starting June 10 and running through Aug. 10. Camps include: June 10-14 and June 24-28 (both for ages 9-12); July 1-3 (ages 7-10) and July 30-August 1 (camp for kids with food allergies).For more information, pricing or to register for camps, see
