As if you need a reason to celebrate, it happens to be National Chicken Fried Steak Day. At least in Texas.
Here in South Carolina, since the temperatures are (finally) taking a little dip towards normal Fall type coolness, why not celebrate with a plate of crispy, crunchy flattened and fried boneless steak smothered in pan gravy? Add a side or two of veggies, just to balance things out.
FYI, chicken fried steak is a staple on the menu at Lizard’s Thicket, Ray’s Diner and Yesterday’s.
