MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. (AP) – A new Catholic high school planned for Myrtle Beach will be the sixth Catholic high school in South Carolina.

The Diocese of Charleston says that St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic High School will be built on 50 acres in the Carolina Forest area west of Myrtle Beach.

The new school is expected to open in 2016.

The diocese is mounting a campaign to raise at least $3.5 million to help cover the costs of construction of the first phase of the building. The money will also help cover initial operating costs.
