Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore an ivory fit-and-flare gown. The fitted bodice featured a sweetheart neckline embellished with crystals and mother of pearl. The entire design was adorned with delicate lace appliques. The fitted skirt fell smoothly to a lace scalloped hemline that continued into a cathedral train. The bride wore her mother’s veil, a halo of silk orange blossoms, Belgian crystals, and wired pearls from which fell silk bridal illusion to fingertip length. The bride carried a bouquet of pink peonies.
Miss Caroline Elizabeth Powell of Charleston served as the maid of honor. She wore a long strapless fuchsia gown featuring a sweetheart neckline with a pearl necklace, earrings, and bracelet – gifts from the bride. She carried a silver mint julep cup overflowing with pink hydrangeas.
Bridesmaids were Miss Paige Charlotte Madeline Braziel of Connecticut; Mrs. Carley Powers Kersey and Mrs. Morgan DeBruhl Preger, both of Camden; Mrs. Ashley Page Mays of Manning; Miss Margaret Eleanora McCurry of Mount Pleasant; the groom’s sister, Miss Ashley Nicole Schaffer of Sumter; and Miss Jessica Ann Varipapa of Maryland. Their gowns’ color and fabric were identical to the maid of honor’s, but each chose a different neckline and bodice. The bridesmaids also carried silver mint julep cups with pink hydrangeas. They wore pearl earrings, necklaces, and bracelets – also gifts from the bride.
Best man was the bridegroom’s brother, John Michael Schaffer of Florence. Groomsmen were Mr. Bryan Rigoberto Castillo, Mr. Frank Joseph Kutcha, Mr. Christopher Anthony Lorenzi, Mr. Joshua Alexander Mercedel, and Mr. Sean Aundrevs Tyson, all of Columbia; Mr. Andrew John Krauss of Ohio; and the bride’s brother, Mr. Charles Nelson Walker Jr. of Charleston.
