George Donald and Rebecca Wise “Becky” Fulmer were married June 15, 1947, at St. James Lutheran Church in Newberry. They recently celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
The couple met in 1944 in Chapin when a friend introduced the two. Donald was home on leave from the Navy, and Becky was a teacher in Chapin.
After being married, they made their home in Columbia, where Donald worked for the United States Post Office for 36 years. Becky was a stay-at-home mother; after their youngest child started school, she returned to the workplace, spending many years at Wilbur Smith and Associates in Columbia.
They have two children: Angela Fulmer Brown and her husband, Willard Brown, of Rock Hill and Don Fulmer and his wife, Becky Rutledge Fulmer, of Chapin. They have four grandchildren: Ryan (Lisa) Brown, Leah (David)Vaughn, Kelly (Chris) Beasley, and Dawn (Tripp) Jennings. They are also Meme and Granddaddy to five great grandchildren: Ryan Brown Jr., Jaden Brown, Rhett Vaughn, Aiden Jennings, and TJ Jennings.
