Danny and Sis Brabham of Columbia recently celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.
The former Sis Mayfield of Greenville and Dannelly Brabham of Georgetown were married on the hot afternoon of Aug. 3, 1957, at Judson United Methodist Church in Greenville.
They have three children – Mike, Field and Dale – and five grandchildren.
For their 50th anniversary in 2007, they renewed their vows in front of family and friends at Virginia Wingard United Methodist Church. When discussing their plans for their 60th anniversary, they considered time, distance and travel logistics and decided, Danny writes, “to travel all the way to the Lake Murray dam to watch the sun rise and thank God for another day.” A good ol’ Southern breakfast at Lizard’s Thicket followed.
The day also included appointments for Sis with two very special people, first with Tarzanna Waymeyer, a hospice aide known as Ms. “T” – and, Danny says, “a wonderful person.” The second appointment was with Johanna Richardson, a talented hair designer who has always taken special care with Sis.
The final celebration of the day was a family cookout.
“Our journey has been wonderful, and during our 49 years in Columbia, we have met so many talented, caring, thoughtful and loyal friends through church, work and social functions,” Danny writes. “We thank each of them for being a special part of our lives!”
