Downtown preparing for Veteran's Day parade

closeDetails are taking shape for the city's 31st Veteran's Day Parade.
The parade begins at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, with participants beginning to gather after 8 a.m. on Sumter Street.
The parade will travel south on Sumter from Laurel to Gervais streets.

The Columbia Metro Regional Transit Authority's Transit Center will be closed from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. because of the parade, but buses will be running on schedule and a temporary center will be set up at Calhoun Street between Main and Assembly streets, next to the Bank of America Plaza.
There will be no service from Elmwood Avenue to Gervais Street, or from Bull Street to Assembly Street.
