This morning, residents of Richland County and the Columbia will participate in a community meeting on the future of transit in the Midlands.

The open meeting is 10 a.m. to noon at the Eau Claire Print Building, 3907 Ensor Ave., on the corner of Ensor and North Main Street in Columbia. Coffee and doughnuts will be provided.

The Central Midlands Regional Transit Authority wants to hear from area businesspeople and residents about their transportation needs and desires, as well as suggestions about how it can change to attract new riders.

The intent is to develop a plan to transform the system into an integral part of the community, according to a news release from Richland County.
